I photographed this portrait session on a cool January evening in Clearwater, FL and we mostly had the beach to ourselves. My favorite location in Clearwater is Sand Key Park, due to its tendency to be a little less crowded. However, I notice the winter months at Sand Key Park can feel even more secluded and tranquil.

Vacation Beach Photoshoot

This family was visiting Florida on vacation and scheduled our vacation portrait package to commemorate their trip to the beach. They did a phenomenal job preparing for their session and dressed beautifully for the occasion. I am obsessed with these gorgeous blue dresses, a great example of what to wear!

Sand Key Park Scenery

Besides the tendency to be less crowded, I think Sand Key Park also has adorable sand dunes with sea oats that add a nice coastal background. Look at that smile by the way, so happy to be hanging out on the beach with mom and dad for a Clearwater beach photography session.

Windy Day

The beach can sometimes be breezy and while some clients worry about it, I assure them not to! The beach breeze is a natural part of the landscape that helps tell the story of where you are. I believe these portraits are a great example of how stunning the wind can look.

Beautiful Waves

I felt the waves were gorgeous during this beach photography session and I love capturing a few breaking waves in the background. I think the ocean is just about everyone’s favorite part of the process and I hope it reminds them of their trip every time they look at these beach portraits.

The Importance of Variety

I make sure to capture a variety of backgrounds to keep the gallery diverse and interesting. The coquina rock jetty is a stunning background and I like to add a whimsical feel to beach portraits. Again, look at that light blue dress – I am obsessed, so pretty!

Candid Smiles

I can’t get over how smiley and sweet this little one was! Letting kids play and explore the beach will really make them comfortable being photographed and some of the best shots are the ones that have genuine smiles.
