Is it worth going to Clearwater Beach?

As a Clearwater Beach Photographer, we know and love the vibrant and picturesque scenery of Clearwater. In 2022, Clearwater a attracted over 15 million visitors with its white sand beaches and sparkling gulf coast shoreline.

But with so much to see and do in the state of Florida, is it worth going to Clearwater Beach?

Only if you like cotton candy sunsets and lounging under the sunshine.

BeauTiful Beaches

With an average high of 83 degrees, Clearwater boasts the perfect climate for beachgoers. Tourists flock to Clearwater to seek so white sand beaches, clear gulf coast water and gentle waves that you can easily relax in.

Many families love Clearwater Beach for younger children because the waves are not as big and strong as on the Atlantic  coast of Florida. I have spoken with many clients who enjoy visiting Clearwater during their Orlando vacation, since it is only about 1.5-2 hours away.

While Clearwater does tend to attract a crowd, you can escape to less crowded state parks, such as:

Honeymoon Island State Park: Located in Dunedin, just north of Clearwater, Honeymoon Island State Park features pris ne beaches, nature trails, and a variety of birdwatching opportuni es. The park is known for its beau ful shoreline, including a dog-friendly beach area and a nature center.

Caladesi Island State Park: Accessible by ferry from Honeymoon Island or by private boat, Caladesi Island State Park offers unspoiled beaches and a natural, serene environment. It’s an excellent spot for shelling and birdwatching.

Anclote Key Preserve State Park: This park is accessible by boat and is known for its white sandy beaches, clear waters, and opportuni es for snorkeling and wildlife viewing. It’s located to the northwest of Clearwater.

Egmont Key State Park: Located to the south of Clearwater, Egmont Key is accessible by ferry and offers beau ful beaches, historical sites, and the opportunity to explore the island’s natural beauty and wildlife.

One of my favorite beaches in Clearwater is called Sand key Park because it is usually less crowded, has plentiful parking and views of both the inlet and gulf.

Most Clearwater beach access parking lots do charge a parking fee, so download a parking app ahead of time if you will be traveling by car.
